R U Ready?

SCRIPTURE:   Luke 12:40  “You also must be ready; because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him” (NIV).

PRAY:  Begin by praying and asking God to teach you this week how to be ready to be part of His “chosen generation”. Also ask Almighty God to help you understand His heart for you to “be ready” for what He has for you.

READ:  1 Peter 2:1-12

FOCUS:  The state of readiness is a right relationship with Almighty God. We think of readiness as being ready to do; but God looks at our readiness as who we are. It is who we are that makes us ready to be used by God, not what we are able to do for Him. When God tells us to “be ready, for the Son of Man is coming,” He is referring to being ready by who we are and who He is in us. When you read I Peter 2:9, do you think of what you must do or who you must be?  If you think of what you must do, you will miss what God desires in you. “A chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a people belonging to God” is who you are and not what you do.

1. What is the difference between getting ready and being ready?

2. Do you think that it is more difficult to get ready or to try to stay ready?

3. Think of something in the last 3 months that you worked very hard to get ready for.       Did you work harder to get ready for that than you do to be ready for God each day?

PRAY:  Ask God to reveal to you any and all areas where you are not in right relationship with Him. Ask God to show you the obstacles in your life that are keeping you from getting ready.
